34 news; The Reuters news agency, quoting its sources, reported that the US State Department and the US Treasury will continue negotiations with the Taliban regarding the release of blocked reserves.
Although, Wall Street Journal had previously reported, citing American officials, that after the death of Ayman al-Zawahiri in Kabul, the Biden government has decided not to release the frozen funds to Afghanistan.
It was reported that US and Taliban officials have exchanged proposals to transfer billions of dollars of Afghanistan’s central bank reserves, which are blocked outside the country, to a trust fund. America has also discussed the plan to create a fund with Switzerland and other countries.
Based on the published information, the freed currency reserves are supposed to be transferred to Switzerland as a trust in a fund and a global committee will supervise its use.
