34 news; Mawlai Amir Khan Motaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, says that 160 million Afghanis have been distributed to the survivors of the recent earthquakes in the country.
Speaking at a meeting to collect aid for the victims of natural disasters in Afghanistan today, Thursday/1, September, he said that more than 20,000 families in the country have been provided with food and non-food aid. Nearly 1,000 families who have been affected by the earthquake were given permanent shelters.
He also said that the recent floods in Afghanistan, in addition to destroying 12,000 houses, have killed 200 people and injured 300 others.
According to him, the Ministry of Disaster Management, in cooperation with aid agencies, has already saved 20,000 people from the dangers of floods, and another six million people have benefited from the food aid of the World Food organisation.
Meanwhile, according to UN statistics, nearly 19 million people in Afghanistan need food aid and suffer from food insecurity.
